Today I gave a reading with four other poet-buddies at the Central Library. My friend (and Sage's idol) Cody was the event's headliner and emcee, and he introduced each of the readers with a poem he'd written for the occasion. Because it was Sage's birthday, this was the poem I got:
I just want to be paid a living wage,
Set my heart to "engage,"
I want to be like Sage.
I don't want to be bound by boredom or rage,
Or stuck in a cage,
I want to be like Sage.
I'm bad at French, I think snow's pronounced "nage,"
But here on this stage,
Je veux etre comme Sage.
In my fair to middling age,
I want to be a great mage,
I want to turn the page,
I want to be like Sage.
